Fire Protect Structural Timber
When exposed to fire, most softwoods char at about 0.66mm/min and most hardwoods about 0.5mm/min. The fire performance of a timber structural element will obviously depend on these charring rates and the loadbearing capacity of the residual timber.
If the calculated residual timber is inadequate for the required fire resistance level, Promat can offer structural protection of the timber using a board encasement. Promat's range of approvals also includes protecting timber rafters or bearers as they pass through fire rated walls. The range of approvals includes board and spray options for timber wall penetrations. Speak with Progressive Materials about specifics prior to carrying out an installation.
